Probably most of you have never heard of Pocos de Caldas before and are wondering now where it is located. Well, P.d.C. is located in the South of the state of Minas Gerais, about four hours by bus from Sao Paulo. I hadn't heard anything of this city either till I met Gi and Mi in a chat-room about 4 years ago. We started writing emails to each other and we became really good netfriends. Then they invited me to come over. In summer 2001 I finally managed to visit them and since then we're real friends :-) In this way: LOTS OF GREETINGS TO MI AND GI!!!!! :-)

Now some facts about Po?os. It's a health resort and has about 130,000 inhabitants, but because of all the parks and avenues it rather looks like a smaller city (this is meant positively!!!). It's surrounded by mountains and as a result: forests. Po?os has some really nice historic buildings as for instance the Palace Hotel or the Bath. All in all, the architecture of the city is just beautiful and the buildings are all painted in different colours.

Favourite spots: |
the parks and avenues, the waterfall, the Japanese Garden, Fonte dos Amores, Thermas Antonio Carlos, view from the Christ statue

What's really great: |
Finally meeting my netfriends in person, getting to know their family and friends and of course their city!

Sights: |
The Christ statue: enjoy the beautiful view over the city. You can either hike up there (the hiking trail through a kind of rain forest starts at the Lover's Fountain, have a look at my must sees for the addy), use the cable car or go by car.
V?u das Noivas waterfalls: I was told that actually there is much more water running down, but for it hadn't rained for quite a long time this is what it looked like; beautiful anyway, isn't it? :-)
Next to the waterfalls is a building where souvenirs of Pocos and things like these were sold.
Also there is a kart lane or something nearby.
Fonte dos Amores - The Lovers' Fountain: in order to get there, you've to enter a kind of rainforest. It was really cool somehow for I had never seen something like this before.
This is also where the track up to the Christ Statue begins
Japanese Garden

Restaurants: |
Alemao - A German restaurant in Brazil: this picture was taken at a restaurant called 'alemao' which is located in Sao Paulo state (in the countryside), about 45 minutes by car from Pocos. Even though this restaurant is called 'German', the dishes they offer are Brazilian, very delicious though!
