Salvador is a fun city amidst the culture and architecture of 16th century Portugal. One can appreciate the touristic sites by day and join the Salvadoreans in their nightly parties until dawn.

Favourite spots: |
By day the Elevador Lacerda, the Bay of all Saints, and the Dique de Torroro are musts. Take time out to enjoy the many beaches.At night when the city comes alive hot entertainment spots areas are Barra and Pelourinha. Pelourinha is a must. It can approach the unbelievable. There are no major safety problems unless in unauthorized areas.

What's really great: |
I liked the friendly people, the food approaching European cuisins, the local dishes were novel and superb. The music was just great and there was plenty of it. Most known Brazilian musicians are from this state.

16-18th century churches, modernistic architecture, Elevador Lacerda, Bay of All Saints, Forts, lighthouses, folkloric shopping, modern shopping, unique culture, music, music, music.

There are hotels, models and Pousadas to fit every pocketbook. The 5-star hotels begin at US$150, the 4=star at US$90, and the pousadas at US40.
