Being a diver, there was one thing on my list I needed to see... The Red Sea. We decided to book a hotel in Sharm, based on the fact that I was going to dive and my wife might not... Sharm seemed to be better organised for non dive activities than our alternative Dahab. Sharm has all kinds of possible activities but we did not use any except for dive trips. As tourist traps go... this is the ultimate. There's no real local or traditional life left only what our Egypt hosts want us to see.

Favourite spots: |
Visit Sharm only for diving... the local reefs are good too.

What's really great: |
The real special treat would be Tiran and SS Thistlegorm. Tiran, or the reefs in the strait, are best if you like reefdives. You will see lots of tropic fish and beautifull coral. This photo shows the famous Lionfish that was swiming along with us for a moment. These fishes are real common in the Red Sea. You are bound to see a couple, even if you are just snorkeling. Be aware: these fish can cause serious injury. Their dorsal fins are highly venomous.

Accommodations: |
Dreams Beach Resort; our stay for the week. It is a simple Resort compared to the other, more expensive alternatives like Hyatt, Hilton and Carlton but it is definite all you would ever need in Sharm. You can do a lot simpeler, but this still was pretty cheap. I've added a 360 photo from Dreams Beach. Taken from the swimmingpool. What striked me most was that you could not find a single free spot in the afternoon... some people already picked their spot at the time I took this picture... 7:30 AM! (and the Red Sea beach is just 2 minutes walk away!!)

Hi,
