The Lighthouse Route along highway 3, from Yarmouth to Halifax, in Nova Scotia is filled with spectacular views and interesting towns. There is never a boring or dull moment. The fishing villages that are scattered along the drive are charming and picturesque, and there are twenty different lighthouses to be explored along the coast. This drive is a must for anyone interested in breath-taking scenery and a leisurely drive.

Favourite spots: |
There are many wonderful stops along the Lighthouse route, but Lunenburg is an absolute favorite. It is a colorful and lively place to visit. Right up the rout is Mahone Bay, which is an artist's dream location. Further up the trail is Peggy's Cove, which is a fishing village built upon a rocky shore. The view is magnificent.

What's really great: |
There are too many wonderful things about this journey to choose just one, but any treaveler who stops at Lunenburg and/or Peggy's cove will be taken in by the beautiful drive and serene villages.
Sights: |
A Lighthouse to fit any mood, but the one at Peggy's Cove is pretty magnificent. The Bluenose 2 in Lunenburg is a replica of the original ship that is on the Canadian dime. Also, many musuems and shops to keep one very busy. The best sight on this route is the drive. There are many historical and charming places along the journey.
Accommodations: |
There are many bed and breakfasts in Lunenburg or one of the bigger towns. Mahone Bay had some charming Inns. Since Halifax is a large city, the Westin Hotel is a great place to stay, and can be reasonable on the right websites.
Hangouts: |
The Knot Pub (902) 634-3334 Knot just a Pub, an atmosphere. Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Excellent food and atmosphere.
