Yes, it's hotter than Hades. And downright digusting, too - when you're in a four-person car with three people and have a drooling dog sitting next to you.

The spouse-unit's father was in town and if I was going to go on a roadtrip with them, then the dog was coming along too. :o) We found that the motel in Stovepipe Wells was dog-friendly and aside from the blistering heat, she enjoyed the travel and sights as much as we did. While there were many four-legged bathroom breaks, having her with us limited our human visits, so we missed seeing sights such as Scotty's Castle. We did get to see the Badwater Salt Flats and Salt Creek to look at the tiny by visible pupfish. (We took turns while Ainsley waited in the car.)

I would include Stovepipe Wells, but the first-glance desolation was almost depressing. I was almost relieved to learn about the natural wildlife that's learned to adapt to the harsh climate.

Angel, nice first report. Too bad you missed Scotty's Castle which is amazing. There are also 6 or 7 ghost towns left from the silver and cooper mining days. The flowers from April - June are wonderful! It's also a great place to star gaze!
