Tiny caye off coast of Belize. Split in two by hurricane Mitch. Handful of US expats and a lot of brit/dane travellers pass through here on way to/from the Yucatan and Guatemala. If you meet a kid named International just off the boat, trying to hook you up with a room etc, he's trustworthy. This place is extremely laid back. Not much happens here. There's one tiny bank which you can use to get cash via-credit from when the phones are working. Nobody takes credit here, so you're going to need cash.

Favourite spots: |
Habaneros restaurant. The whole caye, really.

What's really great: |
Mellow people. Boat trips to dive spots. Good food. If you want to go diving, go to the end of the caye or into a dive shop, and ask for Steve. He has a small boat he takes out every day or so. He'll guide you to the reefs and then go catch lunch while you're exploring, then fry it up on the boat.

Accommodations: |
Try the hotel next to the graveyard. Good rate, decent rooms. Get off the pier, turn left, and go down about 50 yards.

|
Nightlife: |
none

Hangouts: |
One small bar you'll find immediately after you get off the boat. Another small rastafarian hangout in the middle of the caye which has some nightlife, can't miss it.

|
Restaurants: |
Habaneros. Yes, the serve the pepper. Don't eat it.
