Pocitelj, is a small Turkish village that is now listed as a UNESCO heritage site; it is located in the southern part of Herzegovina on the left bank of the River Neretva. It received substantial damage during the war, but now reconstructed, it has returned to its former glory and is a stunning example of architecture with a distinct Ottoman feel.
The picturesque little walled town perched on a hillside is interesting to spend an hour or so to explore. There isn’t much to offer, but the history makes it interesting.
I don’t know whether it is possible to stay in the town, but there are quite a few cafes to have a quite drink. To be fair it is a village that you pass through on the way to Mostar or in the other direction to Dubrovnik. [edit text]
